Budget and Economic Development

The City Council’s most important responsibility is the preparation and approval of the City’s annual budget.  As the former Chair of the City’s Budget and Fiscal Affairs Advisory Committee, I have taken an active role in constructing our annual budgets, seeking to maintain essential City services and develop more efficient ways to deliver those services while restraining the tax burden on City residents. Read more...


Affordable Housing
The declining stock of affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges facing every successful U.S. city, and Alexandria is no exception.  The City of Alexandria has an outstanding track record of using multiple tools to build and preserve affordable housing units.  This city is especially adept at partnering with non‐profit housing organizations and taking advantage of federal and state assistance programs.  Read more...
